Hello! My name is Jane McDaniel and I am The Mindful Curator. I’m incredibly happy that you found me here!

On this site, you will find both original and curated content related to living mindfully, improving mental health, personal stories of perseverance and resilience, and a continually growing collection of resources related to these topics.

Why is mindful living, or mindfulness, important? Because practicing mindfulness is a transformative process that has repeatedly been proven to generate a greater sense of joy and happiness in daily life, while also reducing stress, anxiety and reactivity.

So what exactly is mindfulness?

Mindfulness is an awareness that arises by

⇒ paying attention,

⇒ on purpose,

⇒ in the present moment,

⇒ non-judgmentally.

Mindfulness is developed by incorporating practices of attention, concentration, awareness and compassion into your daily life. My goal is to share these practices so that you too can live the life you want – and deserve – at home, at work or within your own arena, such as on a field, a court or some other similar battlefield.

As a certified mindfulness practitioner with a Master’s Degree from Johns Hopkins University in Applied Behavioral Science, I have both personally and professionally experienced the transformative power and benefits of living mindfully. Through the practice of mindfulness, life’s joys become sweeter and its inevitable challenges are less debilitating. Focus is improved; frustrations and reactivity are reduced.

I look forward to growing together on this journey as we share practices, stories and resources with one another on the path to improving our overall emotional well-being.

Sincerely,

Jane

Testimonials

“Jane has been incredible to work with. My daughter suffered from severe anxiety which spilled over into what used to be her favorite past-time:her sport. My daughter’s confidence was suffering and she was not getting much sleep. After working with Jane and implementing her approach to mindfulness, my daughter’s anxiety was significantly reduced and she is back to playing at her best! I’ve even incorporated some of my daughter’s practices into my own life and seen a positive change for myself as well!”

“I never thought that I would be able to get out of my own way. I was often lashing out, taking things personally and overreacting. Not surprisingly, my relationships were quickly deteriorating in most areas of my life. By incorporating mindfulness practices into my daily life, I have found space between my triggers and my response. This space, or pause, allows me to slow down and make conscious decisions about the way I want to respond, rather than my old pattern of knee-jerk reactions. I’m truly grateful for all of the positive changes in my life that Jane’s mindfulness practices have taught me.”

“I was lucky to meet Jane at the exact moment I needed to. I felt lost and confused trying to figure out how to balance all of the new responsibilities that came along with midlife, including caring for my elderly parents while also trying to take care of my immediate family. Working with Jane helped me learn how to stay in the present moment while navigating these new challenges. Even though the circumstances didn’t change, my attitude toward them did. This shift significantly decreased my anxiety and helped me more calmly manage the tasks at hand.”
